Mike Blyth and Patrick Huang of The Airplane Factory Asia departed Johannesburg in Patrick’s Sling 912iS on a circumnavigation that will take them through Oshkosh, Los Angeles, Taiwan and back to Johannesburg.
This will be the third type trip for The Airplane Factory and the Sling. Directors Mike Blyth and James Pitman flew the Sling 2 prototype around the world in 2009, and did it again in the Sling 4 in 2011 with the help of Jean D’Assonville.
The South African registered Sling 2, ZU-TWN, is set to arrive at Oshkosh on Monday, July 20th. It will be on display at TAF’s booth, located in the North Aircraft Display/Homebuilt area.
