This is most overlooked really cool airplane at the show, the Wolf “Samson Mite.” It’s a one-off by professional builder/pilot Steve Wolf, for his own pleasure. Steve built a full size Samson with R-985 power back in the 1980s and flew it eight seasons on the airshow circuit. This one is about 75% scale, and is powered by a 150HP Rotec R-3600. The details are awesome.
So why is it overlooked? It’s parked in the Rotec Radial display, next to Brian Kelly’s round-engine RV-8R. It’s a severe case of cool airplane overload!
Steve Wolf mentioned a Tennessee based metal spinner that he used to fabricate the cowling and spinner for Samson Mite. Who is that Tennessee metal spinner? I need a similar cowling nose ring and spinner fabricated.
