Preparing for the Wonder!

0

Sonex Aircraft doesn’t have an official booth at Sun ‘n Fun this year, but they do have a presence—at the EAA tent! Sonex company owner Mark Schaible is there all week displaying “The Spirit of Red One,” A Waiex B model which is representing the One Week Wonder, the airplane that EAA AirVenture attendees will build – from kit to completion – in the single week of AirVenture.

The One Week Wonder project has, in the past, successfully completed both a Zenith Cruzer and a Van’s RV-12, with organizational and technical support from the respective kit companies. This year, it will be Sonex’s turn in the barrel as they build the airframe and install a Rotax engine, with the intent of flying the airplane at the end of the show. Sonex is based in Oshkosh, across the field from the bulk of AirVenture, so at least if they find that they are missing a part, or need a replacement, it will be just half a mile away.

We look forward to covering another successful One Week Wonder activity and maybe even getting our hands dirty helping for awhile!
