Sometimes a drill bit just won’t do. When you want accurate, perfectly round holes in aluminum, you need to use a reamer. KITPLANES editor at large Paul Dye discusses when you want to use a reamer, and how to use one in this episode of Metal Magic, sponsored by Aircraft Spruce & Specialty.

Great topic, Paul! I’m a newbie to aircraft construction, so appreciate the tip. It reminds me of reaming critical holes in guitars to final size. But for that, we usually use hand-driven reamers with a t-handle (like a tap wrench). Thanks for recording the hands-on demonstration.
