Mark and Conrad Huffstutler, the new owners of the Lancair brand addressed a forum room full of owners and builders – along with the media – this morning, presenting their plans to renew support and produce kits for the 30 year old line of aircraft. The Huffstutlers purchased the rights and assets of the Lancair company from the previous owners and are in the process of moving al of the inventory and tooling to their location in an 88,000 square foot facility in Uvalde Texas. The senior Huffstutler recently sold his precious company, Sierra Industries, an aircraft modification shop, to concentrate on the Lancair brand.

“Putting the Lance back into Lancair” is their goal, and they are pledging active participation by Lance Neibauer, the original designer of the brand. They plan to start their efforts by first ramping up the parts inventory to support the existing fleet (which has about 1100 airplanes that have flown out of 2265 kits sold to date), and then ramp up production on new kits. They plan to support the models from the 320 on up, and will eventually be putting effort into the new Mako – a four seat, fixed-main-gear aircraft with a retracting nose gear. When asked if they planned to build new kits for the pressurized IVP, the answer was that that is not on the horizon.

The presentation was favorably received by the many builders and owners present. For more information, visit Lancair’s web site at www.lancair.com.
