STOL competition highlights festivities at Zenith Open Hangar Day festival
The second Zenith Aircraft Open Hangar Day STOL Competition is set for Friday, the day before official Open Hangar Day at the Mexico, Missouri Airport (KMYJ).
On Friday, September 18, those who fly (KMYJ) or drive in to the Zenith factory (1881 Airport Rd, Mexico, Missouri 65265) will be welcomed to kit construction, as well as engine and avionics workshops and seminars, and will watch and compete in the increasingly-popular STOL competition, sponsored by Kitplanes Magazine. Friday night, attendees will also enjoy the Zenith banquet, featuring some special guests and door prizes.
Saturday, September 19, from 8a.m. to 3p.m., will host Zenith flyers, owners, builders, and enthusiasts, with more workshops, fun and informal hangar flying, BBQ lunch, and more.
Sebastien Heintz, President of Zenith Aircraft, says, “So many friends and customers come early for our Open Hangar Day, which we have celebrated every year since 1992, that we have developed more and more fun things for these early arrivals, making Open Hangar ‘Day’ a two-day event. Last year, we held an informal STOL event, and the response was amazing. This year, Kitplanes Magazine is sponsoring the competition. We are expecting a great turnout and some fun — and skillful — flying!”
