There we were, recently collapsed into a camp chair, not to mention a strawberry-walnut-blue cheese-and-tomato salad (Californians don’t you know), when Goodyear’s newest, the Wingfoot One came purring overhead.
Canted into the wind like a dog-tracking sausage, the semi-rigid made two laps around Pioneer Field, thus putting Camp Scholler on something of a base leg before apparently landing. Tough to tell thanks to the trees, plus our arugula was going limp.
Goodyear has been sending an airship to Air Venture for over 40 years; it will be on display through Sunday.
