Dynon Avionics announced a new Remote Magnetometer for SkyView plus an upcoming SkyView 12.2 SkyView Software release. Michael Schofield, Dynon Marketing Manager, says “The New Remote Magnetometer adds additional installation flexibility for customers building SkyView into their aircraft. Meanwhile, the transponder update in SkyView 12.2 software demonstrates Dynon’s leadership and commitment to helping its customers properly equip for FAA 2020 ADS-B Out rule compliance.”
Remote Magnetometer for SkyView
SkyView’s ADAHRS provides pilots with all their primary flight instruments in a compact package barely bigger than a deck of cards. In some aircraft, finding a suitable location for the ADAHRS is challenging due to competing location requirements for the air data, attitude, and magnetic heading sensors. To ease installation, Dynon now offers the SV-MAG-236, an optional remote magnetometer that lets customers install the magnetic sensors in an ideal location in the aircraft. The SV-MAG-236 has a list price of $180, but will be available at introduction for $140. The SV-MAG-236 is expected to be released in late April.
SkyView Transponder Software Update to support ADS-B 2020 Compliance
SkyView 12.2 includes a software update for SkyView’s SV-XPNDR-261 transponder. This update adds support for the ADS-B+ data format required to use the Garmin GTN and GNS (WAAS versions) IFR navigators as a GPS position source for FAA 2020 ADS-B mandate compliance credit. Pilots that have these navigators installed in their aircraft and connected to SkyView’s SV-XPNDR-261 are encouraged to update to SkyView 12.2 and enable ADS-B+ format support on both SkyView and their navigator. SkyView 12.2 is expected to be released in late April.

New Lower Price for Dynon D2 Pocket Panel Portable EFIS
Dynon Avionics is excited to announce new lower pricing for its D2 Pocket Panel with Wi-Fi and G-Meter. Now all pilots can benefit from the D2’s life-saving backup attitude indication for a list price of $1095. The D2 is available for purchase now from Dynon dealers.
Michael Schofield, Dynon’s Marketing Manager says, “The D2 is the only self-contained attitude indicator that is truly portable. The D2’s new lower price of $1095 allows even more pilots to add a modern, affordable backup safety device to supplement their often unreliable legacy certified instrumentation.”
The D2 features the same MEMS-based AHRS technology that is in Dynon SkyView – the leading EFIS system for Experimental and Light
Sport Aircraft. The D2 is a true artificial horizon with responsive and accurate pitch and roll. The AHRS sensors also provide a turn rate indicator and slip/skid ball. An internal GPS receiver that provides GPS ground speed, altitude, vertical speed, and ground track.
The D2 features a second G-Meter display page that shows a graphical round dial with the current G load factor shown by a needle. It also records and displays the minimum and maximum G’s since last reset by the pilot.
Wi-Fi connectivity to mobile devices allows the D2 to send attitude, ground speed, altitude, G’s, and ground track to aviation applications in real-time. Those applications can then show that data on a flight information display. Compatible apps include WingX Pro7, Seattle Avionics FlyQ, iHUD Remote, and Air Navigation Pro.
At only 3½” wide, 3¼” high, and 1” thick, the D2 is truly portable. It features an internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery that will lasts at least 4 hours and up to 8 in typical use.
The D2 comes with two portable mounting options, no tools required. Therefore, no regulatory approval is required to use a D2 Pocket Panel in any aircraft. The first mount is a RAM® suction cup mount. The second is a 3 ⅛” portable “pinch” mount that allows the D2 to be easily mounted in an empty existing instrument panel hole.
Accessories included with the D2 are an AC power adapter, a DC vehicle power adapter, a RAM® suction cup mount, 3 ⅛” portable “pinch” mount, internal Li-Ion battery, and external GPS antenna.
D2 Pocket Panels are available now from Dynon Avionics and its dealers. More info: www.DynonAvionics.com
