You’d think the man who has a bunch of fast airplanes in his hangar—including a jet—would not get terribly excited about a Cub, and one with a nosewheel. But you’d be wrong. Paul Dye is taking the CubCrafters NXCub through its paces for an extended flight review at his home in Nevada, where Brad Damm of CubCrafters dropped it off this week.

“This is an amazing airplane, and before all my long-time taildragger friends roll their eyes, let me say—don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! This isn’t your father’s Cub…or Tri-Pacer… We took it out for a quick pilot checkout and some landings on what amounted to a dirt road and a nice dry lakebed—more adventures to come,” says Paul with a grin.
Thanks for posting, Omar. That’s a pretty Cub, and it really does remind me of a Tri-Pacer! Nice photos by Louise.
