Hundreds of sub-groups within the aviation community take advantage of Oshkosh to meet face-to-face. It’s fun to move from an internet avatar to meeting a living, breathing person. This morning, I’ve joined the Sonex Builders Foundation official annual members’ meeting to satisfy the State of Illinois requirements for a 501.c.3 organization–which was followed by a typical Hangar-flying session. Unfortunately, I missed the Delta Dyke Builders gathering at the same time. Last night, we joined hundreds of Van’s RV builders, pilots, and factory representatives in their annual banquet.
Earlier in the day, I was pulled into a coffee clutch of folks mostly interested in original designs and creative home building who know each other from an on-line forum. This afternoon, teenage builders met with Dick VanGruensven and KITPLANES Editor Paul Dye shared pizza and stories. And, tonight is the RV Corn Roast at the pavilion in Homebuilt Camping.
There’s always a chance to socialize at AirVenture.
