The current Thunderbird squadron flew into Sun ‘n Fun on Monday with great fanfare, media briefings and photo ops. This morning, Peter Magnuson piloted his Rutan Long-EZ to the show, in its Thunderbird livery. Today is an off day for the real Thunderbirds and they will be exploring the show with all their other pilot brethren. One can only hope that one of their five will link up with Peter and see his homage to their skill.
Peter comes by his Air Force connection honestly, having been a Viper driver and Instructor Pilot (IP) in the 80s. At that time, the TV show Magnum PI was popular, so his callsign was Magnum IP.
