Just Aircraft LLC, best known for their SuperSTOL and Highlander aircraft designs, is now demonstrating their new, ‘not for sale quite yet’ aircraft model in the Lightplane & Rotorcraft exhibits area at Sun n Fun.
With a model name of ‘Just 103 Solo’ (subject to change) this is president and designer Troy Woodland’s first ultralight design with the goal of meeting the stringent limitations of Part 103 regulations.
These rules limit the aircraft to a single occupant, 5 gallons of fuel and a total weight of 254 lb. The reward for making these numbers is that no pilot’s license or aircraft certification is needed to fly. While still in the testing phase at this time, Troy is providing flight demonstrations of the Just 103 Solo on the Lightplane grass strip.
While it has been traditionally difficult to produce robust Part 103 designs, the use of a Polini Thor 250 engine contributes to achieving the desired weight reduction. Troy hopes to have the aircraft ready for sale later this summer. Information is available at www.JustAircraft.com
