To foster innovation the Mojave Experimental Fly-In recognizes achievement following the Fly-In’s moto: Design. Build. Test.
Additionally, the Experimenter of the Year is announced, along with the Best Attempt award for achievement or project development that may not have yet reached its goal but is noteworthy nonetheless.
The 2016 winners were announced tonight at an awards banquet highlighted by a behind the scenes review of the F-117 and F-22 stealth aircraft by Lockheed test pilot James Brown.
The 2016 Mojave Experimental Fly-In Award winners are:
Best Design: Kevin Eldredge in lieu of Lycoming for the IE2 engine.
Best Build: Joe Coraggio for his Long EZ.
Best Test: Rian Johnson for Van’s Aircraft and RV-14 development.
Experimenter of the Year: Andrew Findlay for his Lancair air racer.
Best Attempt: Tom Siegler who is restoring a Cosmic Wind racer.
