Our sister publication AVweb is reporting that Sheriff’s deputies have confirmed two people died in the crash of an Aero Adventure amphibious LSA near the main runway at Sebring Regional Airport in Florida, site of the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo. AVweb publisher Tom Bliss is on the scene and reports the incident occurred late Friday morning about 200 yards from the main exhibit area of the show.
It appears the aircraft crashed nose-first. The tail and empennage are pointed vertically from the rest of the wreck. Bliss said he’s been told the aircraft was about 10 minutes into a demonstration flight as part of its participation in the show. The wreckage has been ringed by about dozen sheriff’s, EMS and other emergency vehicles. All flying activity has ceased.
