I started building my RV-6A, N57TK, on July 4, 2002 and I flew the first flight on September 5, 2005. The empennage and wings were built by another builder. When I bought the project, the slow-build fuselage was still in the shipping crate.
My day/night VFR RV-6A is equipped with a Dynon EFIS-D10, a Trio Autopilot guided by a Garmin 396 and the engine is monitor with a Grand Rapids EIS-4000. I also have HID landing lights and an APRS transmitter.
I installed a Lycoming O-320-H2AD and Sensenich propeller. With over 700 hours now on the Hobbs I have nothing but good things to say about this engine/prop combo. I’ve been to Florida, Oklahoma, Oshkosh, and Kitty Hawk from my home in Northwest Ohio with this wonderful aircraft.
I’ve flown over 100 Young Eagles and about 40-50 “Old Buzzards” in my T-bird RV!
A big thanks to my wife and my EAA chapter 582 friends who lent a hand when needed, and thanks to Van for such a great design.
Without a doubt, like I read so many times while building – “Keep pounding them rivets, it’s all worth it!”.
