Splish Splash

Last night I told my friend Neil Wischer I’d never been to the seaplane base. “You gotta go!” he said, nearly spilling my Spotted Cow. He said he had a friend who volunteers there and put us in touch. Our Ad Coordinator, Karen Lund, had also never been as this is her first Oshkosh, so we got on the school bus and headed out. Little did we know we’d also get a boat ride! Neil’s friend Tom Scott met us at the entrance and gave us the VIP tour.

Greeted by a cherry red Carbon Cub on amphibs and steel drum music, I felt like we’d left Wisconsin entirely. It was much cooler than the actual exhibit at Wittman, both temperature-wise and maybe even a little literal.

Karen and I relaxing, taking it all in.
The red Carbon Cub and an obligatory big blue chair pic.

Scott took us out on the water and showed us all of the airplanes and explained how they anchor them. Needless to say, this highlight is going to be hard to beat, the whole experience was really special. When we returned a group of guys in lawn chairs held up score cards to judge Scott’s dock job.

Skipper Scott did a great job!
