An Epic Journey

Here I thought that flying an RV-10 from Arizona to Oshkosh Wisconsin was an impressive accomplishment. However that absolutely pales in comparison to the epic journey that Jorge Ezquerra and his pilot friends Andres Brancale and Carlos Seewald accomplished flying their beautiful RV-10 from Buenos Aires Argentina to AirVenture 2022.

Using a 32 auxiliary fuel tank, the group made stops in 6 countries in addition to their own and logged a one way total of approximately 39 hours over their Caribbean-biased route of 6146nm.

Jorge’s wife Silvia swapped into the flight in Fort Lauderdale Florida for the remaining trip to Oshkosh.

They report that no significant transitory or mechanical issues were experienced. Their fuel prices converted to US dollars per gallon ranged from a low of $2.70 in Bolivia (that shocked me), to a high of $15.00 in Brazil.

Brazil also was the most expensive in terms of fees, permits and taxes at approximately $500 total. The crew reported that aviation fuel in their native Argentina costs about half the average US price per gallon.

More information on their incredible journey is available in the RV-10 group page on Facebook.

Felicitaciónes to this amazing crew and fair winds and best wishes for their safe return home.
