Winds are the story today as they are already at 9:45 19 mph gusting to 27… with a strong crosswind component. So, RARA has cancelled the STOL/Drag races today. An audience-popular event, the planes lined up expecting to compete in a straight-line event instead of the usual out-and-back, side-by-side race.
But, the winds continued to climb and they were sent back to the barn for the day. The announcers are now scrambling to fill the time while we all nervously anticipate more cancellations as the forecast predicts the winds to continue and increase.
