After attending AirVenture three times, watching my brother build his Kitfox and getting to know the folks at the Kitfox factory, I decided Kitfox was the way to go. The kit build quality combined with the outstanding build manual and the clean lines of the Super Sport were all factors leading up to my decision to build a Kitfox.
I got my kit in April 2013 and it took its first flight in November 2018. My brother served as my test pilot as he had 500 hours in his Kitfox by this time. Since then, I have put nearly 100 hours on my new bird including flying to Oshkosh this year and pitching a tent under the wing, thus completing a major bucket list item. I chose the Rotax 912 iS engine which has proven smooth, efficient and reliable turning the Airmaster propeller. The panel consists of the MGL Challenger EFIS, Garmin GTR 200 radio and an iPad Air running ForeFlight.
The paint is PPG Desothane on top of Stits Poly-Tone. The plane flies beautifully and has since provided fun adventures for my wife and me as we search out exciting places to fly from our home in Colorado Springs, Co.
I would like to thank my Dad and brother for inspiration, both military/commercial pilots, my two sons, both of whom helped me realize this dream and especially my wife Becky for being my greatest supporter without whom none of this would have been possible.
